How I draw a Peregrine Falcon

Drawn on A3 using a ratio of 3:1

Process I use:

1) Proportions & rough outline

(Take measurements of the key features and then lay them out on a grid)

Due to certain limitations of the human senses (optical illusions caused by certain line combinations/density of natural patterns) I find that sometimes you need to just sit back and observe the photo/what you've drawn and go with your gut feeling. Try a few things out and make sure to keep the lines you've drawn light for easy removal.

2) Depth of colour

3) Detail

2 & 3 I find are interchangeable

4) Dynamism (movement and/or light reflections)

5) Tidy

1)                                                  1)                                                  2) & 3)

                                                                4) & 5)

                                           4 days =  25 hours = finished!
